Description Some connections will drop throughout the maintenance window as I consolidate multiple switches in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floor IDF's

Network Replacing damaged switch in Computer Science IDF 257
Description some connections out of IDF 257 will drop for about 30 mins during the replacement, Wireless will not be affected.

Pulse Secure Gateway Pulse System Code Upgrade
Description The Pulse cluster will be upgraded to address security vulnerabilities.

There will be intermittent outages during this window, and remote access will be briefly interrupted as the cluster fails over and back between the nodes.  After the upgrade, it is highly recommended that users update their desktop clients to the latest version of the Pulse client found on the Security page of the ACNS website (https://www.acns.colostate.edu/security/#1478123291089-f3918698-6eec).  These updated client packages will be made available Friday morning (3/5/21).

Network ACNS staff to perform maintenance on CSU's primary border router's backup routing engine
Description No outage is expected when the redundant component is rebooted.

This maintenance is an effort to clear an alarm that is restricting ACNS's ability to apply new software to the router.

Office 365 Updating Local Exchange Servers in Response to an Out of Band Security Update released by Microsoft
Description Microsoft announced an out of band security update earlier today for Exchange. ACNS maintains local Exchange servers used to manage our M365 environment and those servers will be updated tonight.

The security update was successfully installed on 1 of 2 Exchange servers. Exchange and M365 services are fully functional at this time. Additional work will be scheduled on the 2nd Exchange server in the coming days but in the interim, the 2nd server is offline. This does not present capacity issues and the online Exchange server is a VM hosted within a VMWare cluster, which provides adequate resiliency for the time being.

Original Post:

We do not expect service disruption to M365 services or email during the planned maintenance but the following may experience delays:

  • Delivery of email that passes through M365 to local mail servers (ex: Mailman listservs and/or email to departmental hosted systems)
  • Application of eID password resets to accounts in local Active Directory and M365
  • Updates to Active Directory settings such as display names, email address, etc.

Network Border2 Firmware and OS Upgrade
Description Final step in a multi-step upgrade for Border2 (backup router). No impact to campus is expected.

Both upgrades are complete.
