Nature of Work:

Positions perform tasks that are structured and designed to provide training and experience in the appropriate HCS occupation. Tasks are performed under direct supervision and detailed instruction and guidance is received.

Some Examples of Work:

Duties require carrying out an assigned technical aspect of treatment or surgical support activity to resolve specific, technical animal patient medical problems. Student HCS Trainee III’s are expected to maintain surgery logs and records, setup and supply operating rooms, use sterile techniques, apply technical treatment and surgery support techniques, position and prepare animal patients for treatment or surgery, oversee maintenance and repair of assigned surgical or other medical equipment. Within limits prescribed choices involve selecting alternatives that affect the manner and speed with which veterinary care tasks are carried out. Guidelines in the form of agency and technical veterinary standards exists for most situations.
