Nature of Work:

These positions involve the operation of 16mm and 35mm projectors and related film equipment, lighting set, focus and dimmer board operation, general stagehand work, concert production and facility maintenance tasks as assigned. Works with a diverse user constituency to ensure highest possible quality of presentation in various venues.

Some Examples of Work:

Set and strike stage for each different performance, clean and perform minor repairs on production equipment, mix sound, set and operate lighting, project films, major concert production.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Ability to learn quickly the functions of all equipment in the Student Center Theatre. Ability to adjust rapidly to changing situations and/or problems developing during a performance to ensure a high quality presentation. Ability to work well under pressure. Ability to adapt to changing schedules of a busy facility. Ability to work independently, follow established routines, and make quick judgments and decisions to meet changing circumstances. Must have some mechanical aptitude and a strong interest in arts presentation.

Job Description:

This position is a discretionary promotion potential for student employees who have served significant time as technical crew and have, in the opinion of the Technical and Program Coordinator, become proficient enough in theatre operation and presentation to assume more responsible roles in these areas.
