Nature of Work:

Assumes responsibility for duties and activities relating to the parking of motor vehicles on the CSU campus. Deals with Faculty, Staff, Students and the General Public, regarding the issuance of parking citations, the issuance of permits, scheduling citation appeals, and taking payment for parking violations. Will perform these duties under supervision conforming with parking management policies and procedures and will complete these tasks as assigned.

Some Examples of Work:

20% 1) Patrols specifically assigned areas on campus monitoring vehicles for parking violations at specified times. Issues "notices of parking violation" to the violator of campus parking regulations and records all necessary data accurately and legibly. And/or waits on individuals at OPM's window which includes accepting payments of parking citations, selling of parking permits, scheduling appeals and answering questions concerning parking at CSU.
20% 2) Must develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of all CSU parking regulations which includes eligibility for permits to be purchased. Knowledge of how a parking citation is correctly written to assure validity and visitor exemptions. Must have a complete understanding of all parking signs and area designations.
15% 3) Employees in this position must have good rapport with all clients when answering questions or resolving unique parking problems. This includes maintaining a calm, pleasant demeanor when dealing with angry or hostile individuals in the field and at the window.
15% 4) Knowledge of OPM Computer System to assist in entering of parking citations, in payment of violations, and for researching solutions to problems. Also uses microfiche records to determine vehicle ownership and responsibility for parking citations.
10% 5) Process demographic data to parking citations by researching legal ownership of vehicles and matching against CSU enrollment and payroll files. This information also used in patrolling visitor zones.
5% 6) Does filing -- alphabetical and numerical which requires a knowledge of appropriate files and locations for date sensitive citation and appeal records.
10% 7) Assumes responsibility for larger areas of patrol than PM/C I personnel. Or, assumes selected duties of full-time state Classified Personnel in addition to items 1-6 above, i.e., processes mail payments, processes appeals, prepares special parking permits for University programs, etc.
5% 8) Accept responsibility for field training of parking monitor I or clerk I.
