Nature of Work:

This work is comparable to the work done by a photographer for area newspaper or publication The work is assigned on an as required basis for day-to-day publication. Photographers are compensated on a like basis for area publications. Materials and production facilities are provided by student publication. This work is also used for training in preparation for students work desires. Salaries are structured to meet student publications budget. This is semi-skilled work involving all aspects of photography. Positions in this classification are responsible for taking pictures to be used in the student newspaper or yearbook and eventual production of said photos.

Some Examples of Work:

Use of photographic equipment for production of photos for newspaper or yearbook use Layout of photos for insertion in newspaper or yearbook Responsible for maintaining equipment and photo supplies and preparing requisition for ordering photo supplies Working in conjunction with editorial staff to coordinate photos with editorial content Maintaining all photo equipment Supervises any photo staff

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

- Basic knowledge of journalistic photography
- Basic knowledge of all equipment used in photography work
- Ability to understand written and oral instructions
- Knowledge of maintaining photographic equipment
- Basic knowledge of darkroom techniques

Minimum Preparation for Work:

- Instruction in use of photography equipment
- Desire to learn
- Basic experience in photography work
