Nature of Work:

Employee will be assigned to University Maintenance Operations. The duties and work locations will be determined by a Maintenance foreman. Basic duties may include, but are not limited to, supervising crew of student workers performing grounds work, conference setups, demolition, minor repairs, warehousing, drafting & related, motor pool station attendant, and construction. May also provide skilled assistance to full-time state classified tradesmen.

Some Examples of Work:

- Supervision of student employees
- Groundskeeper
- Conference set-up crew
- Moving equipment, furniture and materials
- Painting/refinishing
- Minor construction
- Repair furniture
- Demolition
- Install ceiling tile
- Small plumbing, electrical, or HVAC projects
- Perform related work as assigned or required to facilitate maintenance operations
- Motor Pool station attendant
- Drafting and related duties
- Warehousing

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Must have supervisory skills. Must have mechanical skills and abilities. Must be able to operate most common power and hand tools. Must have and demonstrate knowledge of good safety rules. Must demonstrate leadership and maturity in work habits. Must be in good physical condition and lift fifty pounds consistently.

Minimum Preparation for Work:

Must be able to read and write English. Must be able to provide and follow both written and oral directions. Must have a current driver's license. Familiarity and previous experience working in the University system is mandatory. Some experience working maintenance construction or grounds is required.
