Web Accessibility - Self-Training Exercise

1. Concepts

Review tips and checklists such as these, which were created at CSU.

• Accessibility for Web Design
• ACNS: Web Accessibility Checklist
• Consult linked resources where you need to better understand the concepts.

2. Examples

Review the ACNS Accessibility Example Web Page and/or the non-CSU accessibility example web pages, and view their HTML source code.

3. Testing

Test one or more pages, such as:

• the accessibility example web pages
• a page that you have created

Use a testing resource such as:

• WebAIM Quick Reference: Testing Web Content for Accessibility
• Web Accessibility Testing Guide
• other testing tools

At minimum, you should test with:

• WebAIM WAVE
• keyboard-only navigation
• a screen reader

4. Fixing

Make a copy of a page that has accessibility issues, try to fix the issues in the copy, and re-test.
